John G. and Phyllis W. Smale Riverfront Park
CINCINNATI, OHIO
The park balances promenade, play, gardens, and event space within a highly public riverfront setting. Interactive water features, a performance lawn, swings, play areas, water gardens, landings, and a long riverfront walk create a layered experience that supports both informal recreation and large-scale activity.
Just as important, the project strengthens trail and bike connections along the river while establishing a civic landscape that is both active and closely tied to Cincinnati’s identity.
Peter Emerson was responsible for design and documentation, and contributed most significantly to the areas at highlighted here while employed with Sasaki.
